Meditation and Mindfulness

Mindfulness Meditation Bright Spot Therapy

Meditation and mindfulness-based therapies are grounded in Eastern religious traditions. Both techniques help to increase awareness of your body, your environment, your thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations in a nonjudgmental way. This ability to stay in the present moment and practice directing our awareness is a step towards healing that can radically reduce your symptoms and improve your daily lives.

MEDITATION

Meditation is a way to cultivate a calm state of being and positive emotions within ourselves. Sounds challenging, right? It is! That’s why our therapists have tons of experience and training to help guide you. Most people have a lot fear surrounding meditation and it’s our therapists job to help you find a meditation practice that works for you to begin the healing process of shifting out of negative emotions and into a calm and safe space in your head.

Meditation helps cultivate conscious focus through practice so it’s available to you anytime. Meditation can be a really valuable tool for identifying anxious or distressing thoughts quickly and having the mental muscle memory to respond in ways that feel more helpful to you.

CLINICAL HYPNOSIS

Many clients ask are reluctant to even ask us about hypnosis because they have seen hypnotized people bark or cluck like a chicken on stage with a hypnotist. The great news is that clinical hypnosis is very different than stage hypnosis. Clinical hypnosis is about finding a new way to relax using your unconscious. Therapists using clinical hypnosis are always grounded in their ethics and working on the goals you set. You’re in charge.

Clinical hypnosis focuses on shifting the unconscious mind by listening to your own voice or your therapist’s voice. For many people, this feels a lot easier than consciously focusing on a specific thought, candle or breathing as in meditation, and makes more room for your mind to absorb the new thought effortlessly and move towards change.

What is Meditation & Mindfulness Effective in Treating?

Meditation and Hypnosis are effective with a wide variety of issues including:

  • Depression
  • Addiction
  • Anxiety
  • Chronic pain
  • Other mental conditions

At Bright Spot, both Meditation and Hypnosis are often looped together on a client’s roadmap to wellness as part of our intense Deep Healing program for those who have struggled to regulate or manage their negative emotions (anger, fear, panic, shame, anxiety, etc…) and those who have had trouble moving towards their goals but have been unsure why.
