Roadmap to Wellness

Bright Spot Counseling’s Signature Process

Background Circles Left

Building a collaborative Roadmap to Wellness, with bright spots along the way!

In all our years of work with clients, we’ve learned that there are many paths to wellness. That’s why we prioritize gaining a thorough understanding of YOU. Who you are as an individual: All of your experiences, the landscape of your life and all its facets are important to us! From there, we’ll help you create a detailed plan for treatment that works with your specific needs and preferences on a timeline that feels right.

Our therapists will explore it all with you; from your daily routine to trouble with sleep, to chronic burnout at work, difficulty with everyday decision-making, relationship challenges and beyond. This helps us pinpoint the approaches that will work best for you in the long-term, and prioritize which treatments are most effective for you at the start of your journey.

We will work with you to create your Roadmap to Wellness, one that addresses each of the issues keeping you from the life you want and deserve. While this looks unique for each individual, we consistently value the practice of body-based skills up front. In our experience, it is key to the experience of safe practice to get one’s body on board with change.

This can mean anything from listening to music to help our nervous system heal (Safe and Sound Protocol) to learning how to shift our emotions using heart-based technology (HeartMath). We know that this type of skills practice allows clients get the most out of their therapy experience and research also supports this approach.

Sample Client Roadmap to Wellness (Depression and Insomnia)

Jen (she/her) is a 43 y/o who is depressed and depleted after multiple Covid-related losses, along with traumas inherent in her work as a nurse. She speaks with Crystal and reveals that with difficulty falling asleep, generally feeling down, and bursting into tears at work all day, there is nothing left for her friends, family, co-workers or herself. Nothing, nada. She’s just tired. She tried meeting with a therapist elsewhere, but the work felt stale and she felt judged. She has come to us hoping for something that will help her feel recharged, even if it’s hard.

She meets with Andi, a Client Experience Coordinator, who takes the time to walk through Jen’s daily work and home life. The purpose is to see where she’s struggling, review what is working what’s not, and clarify where Jen wants to go as well as what she’s willing to do to get there. Jen and Andi work to set up a plan, collaborating with other Bright Spot therapists to provide Jen with the skills and tools for momentum towards change.

The Outcome

Jen stopped ordering in for every meal, started cooking again, stopped eating randomly in the middle of the night and was shocked at how her body responded to the change in nutrition alone! She worked diligently through her roadmap, and was happy to find a place where she could give and receive support from family, friends and co-workers for the first time in a long-time. She was able to feel and heal, look forward to new adventures, and get a good night’s rest, even if she struggled every now and then.
